Treatments

Two ways to treat it. Your doctor decides which.

Prices below are the founding prices we'll open with, locked for 6 months for the first 500 members. Some women are prescribed both together.

Yena oral capsules

Oral capsules

R299/month

One low-dose capsule a day, dosed for you. The simplest option, and the one most women with pattern thinning start on.

  • Best for a widening parting or thinning crown
  • Nothing to apply, nothing to dry
  • Prescribed only if a doctor confirms it suits you

3-month supply · pause or cancel anytime

Yena topical foam

Topical foam

R419/month

An odourless, fast-drying scalp foam at prescription strength. For women who can't or would rather not take an oral treatment.

  • Applied once a day, won't leave hair greasy
  • Also used for early thinning at the edges
  • Stronger than what's available off the shelf

3-month supply · pause or cancel anytime

Both together

Capsules and foam prescribed side by side — the combination doctors reach for when thinning is more advanced.

R650/month

Add-ons your doctor may recommend: a blood panel for iron, thyroid and vitamin D (from R650 via partner labs) and a clinical scalp shampoo (R289, no prescription needed).

Is it for me?

Women's hair loss isn't one thing. We'll tell you which one you have — and if we can't help.

Men's hair loss is almost always the same condition. Women's has at least three common causes, and they need different answers. That's why a doctor reads your case before anything is prescribed.

We treat this

Pattern thinning

A widening parting, a see-through crown, a ponytail that's half what it was. Hormone-driven and gradual — and the most treatable. This is Yena's core.

We find the cause first

Sudden shedding

Handfuls in the shower after a baby, an illness, rapid weight loss or a hard year. Usually recovers — but low iron, thyroid or vitamin D can hold it back. Your doctor may order bloods before treating.

We're honest about this

Traction and scarring loss

Thinning at the edges and temples from tight braids, weaves or buns. Caught early it responds to treatment plus a change in styling. Once the follicle has scarred, no medicine regrows it — and we'll say so rather than sell you a plan.

"Most women I see have already spent a fortune on serums and supplements before anyone asked the two questions that matter: what kind of loss is this, and what's driving it? Start there, treat properly, and the results follow."

Questions

The things women ask us first.

How long until I see results?+

Treatment works on the hair cycle, which is slow. Most women notice less shedding first, within 8–12 weeks, then thickening at the parting from month 3 to 6. Full effect takes 9–12 months. Results vary, which is why we check in with photos.

Are there side effects?+

All prescription medicines can have side effects; your doctor will go through the ones relevant to your plan and choose the lowest dose that works. Some options are not suitable if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning a pregnancy, and your doctor will ask about this before prescribing.

Is this the same as the over-the-counter products at the pharmacy?+

No. Over-the-counter options are limited to one type of treatment at fixed strengths. A doctor can prescribe higher strengths, oral options and combinations that aren't available off the shelf, and match them to the kind of hair loss you actually have.

When do you open?+

Soon. We're opening in small groups so every woman gets a doctor's full attention. Everyone on the waitlist is invited in order, and we'll email you when it's your turn.

Do I have to commit to 3 months?+

Each supply is 3 months because anything shorter can't show you a result. You can pay monthly and pause or cancel at the end of a supply, or pay quarterly and save.

Will I talk to a real doctor?+

Yes. Every case is reviewed by an HPCSA-registered doctor who chats with you before anything is prescribed, and who stays your doctor for follow-ups. Yena never prescribes from a questionnaire alone.

Would you pay from R299/month for doctor-prescribed treatment delivered quarterly?

Yena is pre-launch. Nothing on this page is medical advice, and no medicine is sold here. Treatment is prescribed only after a doctor's review.
